High on the hills overlooking the rolling vineyards of Chianti, Carpatica Cerreto is built around a former watch tower dating back to the Twelfth Century.

Just eleven kilometres north-east of Siena, Carpatica Cerreto is set in the classic Tuscany landscape of olive groves, vineyards and forests. Cerreto Castle was of strategic importance in the medieval feuds of the warring factions of the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. The castle is now just a ruin but its watch tower remains standing high on the hill with breathtaking 360 degree views. The watch tower was added to in the Fifteenth Century and has since been lovingly restored into a delightful home with true elegance and style. The well-kept garden gives an unprecedented feeling of space and being on top of the world and the incredible infinity pool has the most exceptional views over the hills and beyond.

The large farmhouse style kitchen is extremely well-equipped with a traditional range cooker and big kitchen table. French windows open onto a large terrace well set up for long lazy lunches shaded from the Tuscany sun or delightful dinners under the stars. There are two sitting rooms both with fireplaces as well as a formal dining room all furnished with antique mirrors, paintings, comfortable sofas and armchairs. There are lots of books too and Carpatica Cerreto is well suited for stays out of the main summer season as well as for those fantastic summer escapes.

The five bedrooms are all excellently appointed with tasteful furniture, classic rugs and traditional bedspreads. The bathrooms however have a modern feel with large oversize shower heads and designer stainless steel taps. All of the rooms have exposed wooden beams typical of the region and style of house. Carpatica Cerreto exudes a deeply homely feel and has a real charm about it - the ideal holiday venue for a group of friends or family in the heart of Tuscany.

Nearby are numerous delighful Tuscany villages as well as castle ruins, olive groves and vineyards, all set amidst echoes of a turbulent history of factional fighting between city states for control of this rich territory. Uniquely positioned on top of a hill, one can enjoy watching both sunrise and sunset from Carpatica Cerreto and it is hard to drag oneself away from this classic Tuscany setting. Just across on the next hill is the fabulous Hotel Le Fontanelle so if one fancies a delicious meal not far from home then Le Fontanelle is the place!
