Imperati Petrolo, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy

The Imperati Petrolo estate and its famous winery and prestigious olive oil is a place full of charm, steeped in Italian tradition. A fabulous property where one can enjoy Tuscan culture, food and wine and relax by the pool, play tennis or go fishing on one of the private lakes.

Villa petrolo,chianti

Imperati Petrolo, the main building on Fattoria Petrolo, dates back to the 1700’s when it was built by architect Massimiliano Soldani as his own private residence. The estate is set amongst vineyards, oak and holm-oak woods and green olive groves - it epitomises all that is traditional in this region of Tuscany. On the estate is the Tower of Galatrona dating back to the Etruscan and Roman eras and Villa Petrolo overlooks the ancient Romanesque Pieve (old parish church) which houses works by Giovanni della Robbia. Beyond the villa are three small private lakes where one may go fishing and, nearby, guests can visit the winery and traditional olive mill.

Ochre walls with large green shutters, the traditional  Tuscan uniform, Imperati Petrolo is an impressive building with high carved wooden ceilings and  wonderfully spacious rooms including two dining rooms, a billiard room and upstairs, a vast hall with a Murano crystal chandelier. Tastefully furnished throughout, mostly with antiques, Imperati Petrolo is an excellent venue for a large gathering of friends or a family reunion. With bedrooms to accommodate up to seventeen on the first floor of the villa, there are two additional apartments on the second floor to accommodate parties of up to thirty-two guests if required!

Outside, the villa has a large private garden with swimming pool and tennis court surrounded by majestic cypress trees - a fine venue on long summer days, for playing in the sun, a glass of wine nearby and olives from the estate - whilst evenings are spent enjoying delicious dinners in one of the elegant dining rooms followed, perhaps by a game of billiards. The delights of Siena, Arezzo and Florence are all close by so that guests at Imperati Petrolo return again and again.
