Stunning views across the lagoon, colourful private gardens and beautiful Mediterranean climate combine in Cyprium Diouana; a very special destination in this enchanting corner of Morocco.

Cyprium Diouana, situated near a seventeenth century kasbah and ruined royal summer palace, is a luxurious nineteen-forties villa which has been thoughtfully and stylishly refurbished using a combination of modern and traditional Moroccan building techniques. Throughout the villa there is Tadelakt (polished coating of quicklime, sand and eggs, coloured with pigment) flooring and Moucharabieh (intricate, pierced) woodwork. This combines perfectly with the more contemporary use of panoramic windows to create a sense of calm and space. The cottage has been similarly styled and furnished to the same high standard and the view of the lagoon and the Atlantic ocean is wonderful - unspoilt, mesmerizing and forever changing.

All bedrooms in the villa and the cottage enjoy en suite facilities. The beautiful salon has a wood-burning stove for cooler evenings and there is a fabulous roof terrace on which to snooze in the sun by day and from which to gaze at the stars by night. The large walled garden surrounding  the house has been planted with palm trees, oleander, bougainvillea, hibiscus and eucalyptus. The property is just a short walk away from the beach and the small village of Oualidia, famous for its oyster beds. The lagoon and estuary are a haven for nature lovers with prolific birdlife including pink flamingoes, stilts, oyster-catchers, egrets, herons and other shore birds. There are lots of wonderful walks to deserted coves, wild, windswept beaches and rocky cliffs while the beaches on the lagoon are safe and pleasant for swimming, surfing, boat trips and windsurfing.

Cyprium Diouana is a delightful place to stay all year round. For those guests wishing to explore a little further afield, Marrakech and Essaouira are only two and a half hours’ drive away whilst Safi and its famous pottery centre is just forty miles to the south.  However, most guests find themselves so enchanted by the house and its sense of relaxation they find it hard to leave - with oysters available in restaurants overlooking a shimmering lagoon there’s really no need to!
