The Pinarello is a lovely luxury hotel on the south-west coast of Corsica which ushers in a new generation of excellent, well-priced accommodation on an island which for many years, has been a particularly hard nut to crack.

Well trained staff provide a very friendly professional service from the minute one arrives. Relieved of bags and car the view through reception of sparkling crystal clear waters is hypnotic and enticing. Decorated throughout in pleasing neutral tones which emphasise the dazzling natural spectacle outside, the Pinarello is a study in textures and shades of ochre and yellow, punctuated with hints of steel and wire.

A clean contemporary design has been employed throughout and the rooms are comfortable, tidy and adhere to a well thought out design. The bathrooms are very good and every room has a balcony or terrace with room enough to take breakfast (of the really good Continental variety) and each one overlooks the beach and beautiful clear sea - the first swim of the day is not far off!

Sainte Lucie de Porto-Vecchio is one street of restaurants which terminates at the sea and these include ‘Le Rouf’, the sister establishment to the Pinarello, a specialist in fish and seafood well worth a visit.

There are many lovely beaches and coves in this part of Corsica where the sea is at its most calm and the sand at its finest. A little way down the coast is Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio, both interesting historic towns in picturesque locations and Corte, the old capital of Corsica is two hours’ drive into the islands centre. Everywhere the people are friendly and one finds a fascinating culture - neither French nor Italian yet with elements of both - in a truly beautiful Mediterranean setting.
