Carthianius Nello lies on a rocky ridge perched above Positano and Praiano – arguably one the most beautiful and evocative backgrounds in the world. The path to the villa takes one to the main gate and onto the upper terrace covered with grapes and a view to the sea below. Further down is another terrace with the impressive swimming pool surrounded by olive groves, sun loungers and an outside shower – a great spot for relaxing with a cool drink and letting the day go by. There is a barbecue for al fresco cooking and plenty of spots to sit under the sun or in the shade and soak in this magnificent location.

Inside, Carthianius Nello is spacious and rich in character. Built on four levels, all the bedrooms enjoy en suite facilities, air conditioning and, of course, a fantastic view. The huge dining/living room has interesting features such as an exposed wall of natural  rock with plants stylishly positioned as well as an ancient fireplace and wonderful antique furniture. This is a great room at all times of the year and fabulous for gatherings of friends and family. The kitchen is also extremely spacious with a lovely old table where one can have breakfast (unless you prefer to be outside on one of the terraces!) and it is superbly equipped serving as the perfect location for the chef to produce many delicious dishes for the guests.

Four of the bedrooms are on various levels of the villa itself and the other two (Garden Room and Li Galli) are situated across the terrace and very independent making the house ideal for a party of friends or family looking for a property with adequate areas of private space. Across the terrace of bougainvillea and hibiscus is the Garden Room with its fun and quircky shower created within the rock of the hill and beyond here is Li Galli – a charming and romantic little annexe.

Service at Carthianius Nello is plentiful so guests do not need to worry about carrying their shopping up the hill from Positano because there is a porter, a chef and a daily maid all included. Guests at Villa Nello can therefore enjoy the luxury of being in the own villa but with all the services of an intimate hotel. There is so much to explore in the area be it Ravello with its famous music festivals and gardens, chic and glamorous Capri or Vietri, famous for its tiles, and Pompei, full of history with the impressive backdrop of Vesuvius. Alternatively, many guests may prefer to simply enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Positano and the enchanting and unbeatable location of Carthianius Nello with its views, pool and gardens and very comfortable interiors – all made even better by the knowledge that there is someone there to conjure up exquisite meals all washed down with some local white wine!
