Randall’s House is situated across the lagoon from Abu’s Camp and is completely secluded and private with its own staff of butler, chef, guides and house personnel on call to attend one’s every need. Designed by Paul Munnik and built by master-craftsman John Picton, the skilful use of canvas and pole creates a dramatic, sumptuous tented camp which provides supreme comfort whilst blending in with its environment. Two large bedroom suites and a spacious sitting room stand on expansive raised teak decks beneath shady trees. These terraces weave in amongst the foliage encompassing a plunge pool, dining deck and boma-style campfire, perfect for tall tales long into the evening.

The elephants will look after you during your stay. They will carry you over the lagoons and streams of the delta, safely out of reach of whatever predators and game you meet along the way but enabling you to approach wildlife as if you were not there. You will walk amongst the herd and the matriachs will ‘hold your hand’ as you go, giving you a brief insight into the complex social rules of the family.

Randall Moore, the pioneer behind this sanctuary and rehabilitation programme, is recognised the world over as a leader in his field. In order to finance part of the operation, he foresaw the future of eco-tourism and Abu’s Camp (Abu was the first Matriarch of the herd) was born. There are now several released elephants out in the wild as a direct result of Randall’s efforts and his elephants are in high demand from scientists and film makers alike.
