The Imperial, Delhi, India
Inspired by Lutyens and built in 1931, The Imperial was conceived as Delhi’s finest hotel and today is considered by socialites, politicians, business people and artists alike as the only hotel in town.

Reckoned amongst Asia’s finest hotels, The Imperial is a legend that offers a unique experience embracing all the many facets of India’s history. The twenty-four king palms leading up to the porch were planted when New Delhi was born and the hotel has marked India’s career ever since - a gift from the departing Raj.
From Bromfield’s drawing board in 1934 and inaugurated by Lord Willingdon in 1936, it was always the plan to build the most luxurious hotel in New Delhi. Placed on Janpath, once the Queensway, and well situated for the dangerous shopping district The Imperial is within easy reach of the city’s main attractions.

A true classic of the ‘Grand Hotel’ genre, The Imperial manages the impossible - to look after all of its 400 guests’ individual needs and treat each with the personal touch. The facilities are everything one would expect, and more; from the seven restaurants and two bars to the museums, art galleries and gardens everything is here and anything can be arranged.

The Spice Route is The Imperial’s southeast Asian restaurant, serving a cuisine designed to reflect the journey from the Malabar Coast of Kerala all the way to Vietnam - voted in the World’s Top Ten Restaurants by Conde Nast’s Traveller magazine. The 1911 Restaurant, Brasserie and Bar lend an extremely highly refined French fusion to the traditional indian cuisine whilst the San Gimignano is an Italian restaurant of note. Ignoring Daniel’s Tavern and the Lutyen’s & Baker Room, one could not conclude without mention of the Patiala Peg, one of the most popular bars in Delhi, where the ‘pegs’ are slightly larger than the average 60ml in commemoration of an exciting tent-pegging competition in the early 1900’s when the Maharaja of Patiala’s team took on the unbeaten Viceroy’s team creating local legend along the way.
From the large swimming pool surrounded by palms to The Imperial Spa by Six Senses, everything is of the highest quality and ready and waiting to make your stay in New Delhi a truly memorable and stately experience.
