Situated on the Trappola Estate within the Maremma National Park, Alpinum Trappola has been beautifully restored into a stylish and comfortable home with private gardens, beach and pool.
Alpinum Trappola, the main villa on this private estate, was built in 1283 as a tower 30 metres high to defend the coastline from marauding Saracens and it was fully restored in 2005. The tower is surrounded by a landscaped garden, planted in the summer of 2005 after the extensive restoration of the villa was completed. Care was taken to plant large shrubs and trees so that, only one year later, the garden looks as though it had always been there.
All that remains of the tower today are the lower ramparts which give the building an arcane aspect of strength and solidity. The property extends over three floors. A large, modern kitchen with adjoining dining room and TV lounge occupy the ground floor. The first floor is made up of a large living space and two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The top floor has another three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all with panoramic views over the Maremma National Park. A second kitchen here conveniently serves as a breakfast kitchen. The extensive restoration of the house included the new kitchen and bathrooms, while the other rooms in the house received a complete face-lift. The decor is elegant and comfortable in harmony with the patrician style of this historic residence.
The garden extends over three areas: a stylish pergola for al fresco dining, a pool area (children-proof) and an extensive lawn shaded by maritime pines. The beach is four kilometres from the house at the end of a country lane winding through the Maremma National Park, affording fascinating glimpses of the local fauna. The white sandy beach is beautiful and unspoilt, with the islands of the archipelago on the horizon - there are few parts of Tuscany so secluded and well preserved - a wonderful venue for horse riding and birdwatching.
