There are few better ways to experience East Africa than with the help of Siruai’s guides, Mark Laurence and his life-long Maasai friend Kaapen. Both of these remarkable men are Kenyan born and bred and their passion, knowledge and experience will bring your safari to life.

Mark Laurence is a professionally qualified guide, who is based in the Rift Valley on the shores of Lake Naivasha. He has a carefully chosen selection of thoroughbred and thoroughbred cross horses from both Kenya and Zimbabwe and these bush-wise horses are well schooled in bringing you into closer touch with every aspect of African nature.

The most luxurious mobile tented camp, set up in wild unspoilt areas where privacy is ensured, awaits you at the end of every day. Our trusted and loyal camp crew will happily put up your hot shower and hand you a well-earned G&T, not necessarily in that order! Experienced chefs prepare sumptuous fresh meals throughout the entire safari, cooking traditionally over open fires - most guests are amazed at the fresh bread or Zanzibari Prawns which come out of the safari kitchen.

The excellent team of grooms care lovingly for the horses out on the picket line, feed and groom them and make them ready for the next day’s ride and, led by Kapeen, with his amazing set of eyes for either walking or driving - nothing escapes their attention - and their incredible understanding of the land makes these safaris really special.

The safaris are custom-made in conjunction with you and in light of the best advice so that your dream safari can be realised. Whether it involve a weekend’s polo or bird shooting, deep-sea fishing or relaxing on a stretch of unspoilt beach we recommend eight to twelve days in the saddle with between four and six hours’ riding per day. At this point perhaps we should point out that all safaris are accompanied by very comfortable Land Cruisers which not only provide the option of a respite from saddle leather but also the opportunity for photography and night drives.

The Maasai lands are on the edge of the Mara and Serengeti and hold arguably the largest concentration of game anywhere so all riders must be confident at all paces. One can approach pains game incredibly closely in comparison with being on foot and the experience is never to be forgotten. What better way to safari than on horseback with the African Plain rolling out into the distance and a cool drink and hot shower waiting, just over the horizon!
