The Xara Palace, Relais & Chateaux, is located just a few metres from the main entrance of the walled historical city of Mdina and opened its doors to receive its first guests on the 1st May 1999. As a guest one enjoys the privilege of staying in one of seventeen individually designed duplex rooms and suites full of unique features and decorated with period pieces as well as original paintings by renowned Maltese and International artists.

The clear blue sea is Malta’s undisputed asset and no beach is more than 15 minutes’ drive away. On most beaches one can hire deckchairs, beach umbrellas and there is windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving and jet skiing available.

The renowned De Mondion restaurant is at guests disposal in the evenings and the more informal Tratoria AD1530 serves delicious lunches during the day. Mellieha (the largest in Malta), Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha are situated in the north (roughly 5miles) and have wonderful sandy beaches. Mellieha is on a hilltop and surrounded by fertile valleys, caves and hills which overlook the island and neighbouring Gozo. Some of Malta’s best restaurants are found here and the sandy beaches of Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha are unspoilt havens for sun seekers and swimmers.
