Morukuru, Madikwe, South Africa, Africa
South Africa’s largest malaria-free game reserve is home to the ‘Big 5’ and sits on the border with Botswana in an extremely diverse ecosystem which attracts many birds and diverse game.

Morukuru Lodge is in the Madikwe Private Game Reserve, South Africa’s largest malaria-free game sanctuaries and boasting a rich biodiversity of mammals, including the ‘Big 5’ and excellent bird viewing, with over three hundred and fifty species. Morukuru (‘Tamboti Tree’ in Tswana) is a beautifully appointed bush lodge on the edge of the Marico River, under the trees of that name which grow in abundance on the river banks.

The exclusive lodge offers excellent personal service in the shape of your very own butler, whose warm and friendly African hospitality pervades the whole staff and is echoed in the outstanding cuisine prepared by your personal chef - who will take your specific culinary requests and improve on them beyond your expectations.

Three air-conditioned bedrooms with private decks all have bathrooms en suite and connect in the central living area which comprises a magnificent sitting room and dining room. A cosy open fireplace awaits satisfied diners, the chef delighting guests with everything from light snacks to bush banquets, according to one’s wish.
Exceptional game viewing experiences are part of the magic of Morukuru and Madikwe, with one’s own private game ranger and 4x4 game-viewing vehicle. Whether driving or walking, the safari is tailored specifically to one’s own pace and style - the agenda is entirely one’s own - and even the wild dog will appear precisely on queue.

There is a playroom with recreational and office facilities including TV, DVD, internet and satellite access to keep children and work-aholics amused and of course the lodge also offers the perfect setting for guests to dine alfresco on the wooden deck, under the shade of the impressive Tamboti trees - overlooking the riverbed where animals converge to escape the heat of the day. The evenings call for traditional African dinners around the boma fire under the fabulous African stars and tall stories of the day’s encounters and derring-do.
