A wonderful creation by architects Bricchi Marksteiner, Cilicium Fianco incorporates the traditional Puglian trulli with accommodation designed in the style of typical masseria to give really comfortable and spectacular living space.
The owners, who have connections in the art and design worlds, have furnished and decorated the villa in a contemporary fashion in order to preserve the lovely architectural lines and vaulted ceilings of the original building. The result is one of the finest villas in the region and a wonderful place for guests to stay.
Every possible modern amenity has been included and so the Fasano limestone floors and star-vaulted ceilings are home to a state-of-the-art kitchen and elegant bedrooms with bathrooms en suite. Light streams in through French windows which lead onto a shaded terrace for al fresco dining where there is an outdoor kitchen with polished cement work surfaces, hob, barbeque and sink. A massive Trani marble dining table easily seats twelve and commands extensive views over the surrounding countryside towards Cisternino.
Steps lead down to another shaded terrace and sofra, overlooking the pool - a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the view between dips. The pool is in a natural lake style with a beach edge, ideal for children or for lolling in the shallows and the area around it is perfect for sunbathing or lounging around.
Sitting on a hillside with stunning views over a valley toward Cisternino and Locorotondo the villa is surrounded by two acres of olive and almond trees and numerous fruit trees including apricot, fig, pear and pomegranate. The wonderful hilltop town of Ostuni is close by and Lecce – the magnificent regional capital – is a treasure of history and fine restaurants.
