A wonderful premier lodge in a private park bordering the Moremi, Vumbura offers guests every way in which to enjoy the diversity and magic of the Okavango Delta.

Vumbura Plains (pronounced Vumbera) is a luxury tented camp situated in the north of the Okavango Delta, in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The Vumbura Reserve offers both land and water-based activities in a park that has a wonderful variety of habitats and a great diversity of wildlife over an area of close on 130,000 acres.

The main activity at Vumbura is game viewing in this diverse and scenic countryside. Open 4x4 Land Rovers and walks enable guests to explore the savannah and woodland areas. The Vumbura area is possibly the only area in the Okavango where one can see the Red Lechwe (an animal that inhabits the fringes of the waterways) and the Sable antelope (an animal that enjoys the dry countryside) on the same game drive.  Lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and buffalo along with all the plains game are regular visitors and guests are able to enjoy an excellent wildlife experience in this remote and private part of the Okavango. The birding too is superb and walks, mokoros and boating give Vumbura Plains’ guests the opportunity to enjoy Africa from every different perspective.

The lodge overlooks a vast floodplain, its rooms built under the cool shade of the trees. Comprising two camps, each has its own dining, lounge and bar area and all of the fourteen luxury tented rooms are raised on wooden platforms with walkways connecting them to the main living areas. Each tented room has a large, comfortable bedroom, a lounge, ‘sala’ and bathroom and its own plunge pool, perfect for cooling off after an excursion into the bush. The main dining, lounge and bar areas are also raised on decks and tucked away beneath the canopy of shady indigenous trees, providing a captivating view across the Delta floodplain.
