Ski News

We have been busy beetling around the mountains this year, adding to our portfolio of hotels and chalets and discovering some lovely new places for you to visit - during the ski season or over the summer.

Please have a look through the Global Artichoke Chalets we have listed by country.
Below is a selection from the Global Artichoke Hotels - mainly family-run or small, in interesting places or fabulous spots - but all wonderful in their own way.

BellaTola,ValaisThe Grand Hotel Bella-Tola has been providing wonderful hospitality in the Alps ever since the first mad pioneering mountaineers (from the UK!) saw the Matterhorn over a hundred years ago. The Val d'Anniviers and its six charming villages offers a beautiful unspoilt environment in which to ski, walk, snow-shoe and cheese-roll!

BellaTola,ValaisI have skied here often and the terrain caters for all abilities - lovely pisted runs to back-country skiing favoured by the extreme ski teams!

The Arlberg Hospiz sits on the piste between St Anton and Lech and is the epitome of Austrian hospitality. Lederhosen, songs and a slide down to the loos below the restaurant - great fun mixed perfectly with charm. The hotel has one of the finest Bordeaux cellars in Europe and they offer a really great Kids Club so that the adults can really enjoy their wine!

ArlbergHospiz,AustriaThere is a wonderful spa, indoor pool, saunas and whirlpools - and in the evening the HospitzAlm changes its menu, offering haute cuisine to its haute residents.

During the day, the Arlberg's restaurant is open to skiers but as the lifts threaten to close, non-residents have to descend, leaving the Arlberg to those lucky few to enjoy the peace of the mountains, shattered only by the singing from the wine cellar.

GstaadPalace,SwissAlpsThe Gstaad Palace is legendary for the elegant, cosmopolitan scene it has commanded in the mountains for all these years. Still run by the Scherz family, the Palace is supremely chic and the ultimate alpine treat!

Lenkerhof,SwissAlpsThe Lenkkerhof is all about outdoor fun in the mountains. Skiing, hiking, climbing followed by treatments in the spa and relaxing by the open fire. Great cuisine on a good appetite - there are no birch twigs here though - the accommodation is luxurious.

RosaAlpina,DolomitesThe Rosa Alpina in San Cassiano is a special favourite of ours. Set in the beautiful Dolomites with wonderful skiing all around and the most spectacular scenery amongst European mountains, the Pizzinini Family run the Rosa Alpina perfectly. From the Michelin starred Hubertus Restaurant to the spacious 'suite-like' rooms and wonderful spa, there is everything guests need in the pursuit of stylish luxury in the mountains.

LaSivoliere,FrenchAlpsLa Sivoliere is a wonderful chalet-styled hotel in Meribel. All of the cosy comfort of a chalet with lots of open fires all around sitting areas in nooks and niches, wonderful service and all right in the centre - on the Dou du Midi. 26 Rooms and suites in perfect ski-in and ski-out luxury.

SportHotelArabba,DolomitesThe Sport Hotel Arabba is in the centre of Arabba, next to to Sella Ronda in the Dolomites. A fun, bustling town with lots of restaurants, bars and cafes and The Sport Hotel is the most famous - family run, charming and stylish - the best base from which to explore this fabulous and beautiful mountain region.

Vigilius,ItalianAlpsVigilius Mountain Resort is a fabulous creation for wellness and relaxation in the mountains. Designed to blend in with the scenery, the very modern approach to architecture and service is stunning and at the same time refreshing and stimulating. Vigilius is a unique and wonderful hotel wnd brings out of all the best things the mountains have to offer.
