Only an hour from the historical town of Avignon, with mature and secluded gardens and beautifully decorated interiors, the Hybrida Pazanan is a stylish and delightful seventeenth century home

This fabulous ‘mansion’ has been in the same family for generations and is full of history and charm. Originally built in 1600, Hybrida Pazanan was fully renovated in 1995 incorporating beautiful furnsihings as well as every modern comfort and facility including four marble bathrooms. The Manoir is an atmospheric home where many guests have enjoyed relaxing days of dining on the fabulous roof terrace with views to the Cevennes, lying by the pool on the lawn of the wonderfully mature gardens or reading a book by the fireplace in the splendid sitting room during the cooler months.

The façade of the house is clad in ivy with fabulous large windows and shutters and opposite here is a building which was originally a ‘magnanerie’ (silk worm farm) and was then used for processing grapes and also lavender distillation. During the war the owner’s mother and sister were sent more than two hundred kilometres by bicycle to protect the house from the Nazi occupation and possible vandalism and only ten years ago, when the house was passed on to the current owner, was it completely renovated.

Inside, there are two sitting rooms, each with woodburning fireplaces and the larger of the two has a vintage French Erard grand piano. Bedrooms are traditional and spacious and there is an attractive dining room with a large original ‘cremaillere’ fireplace and adjoining modern kitchen.

Situated on the Southern side of the Cevennes mountain range, Pazanan is a small and unspoilt hamlet not far from the busier are of Provence. Much of the surrounding expanses of wild nature, forests and caves is preserved by the region’s administration providing a paradise for lovers of walking, riding or biking. With magnificent views, charming villages, markets, rivers and plenty of wineries and inexpensive restaurants, this is a truly enticing area - the Hybrida Pazanan provides the ideal home from home and there is even the treat of a delicious gourmet meal at the house should guests wish.
