The view from Loisaba extends for hundreds of miles. Only a step from the equator, one looks to Mount Kenya and the Mathews across the wide plain of the Rift Valley across which the big game ranges free.

Clinging to the edge of the Laikipia Plateau on the border with The Northern Frontier District, Loisaba House has a view like none other in Africa. Stretching for hundreds of miles across the Rift Valley plain, the panorama pierces the distance to Mount Kenya, the Lolldaiga Hills and the Mathews Range; a landscape full of wildlife sustained by the Ewaso Nyiro River which meanders across the valley floor and touches the foot of the escarpment on which the House sits.
Lion, gerenuk and reticulated giraffe, elephant, leopard and Grevy’s zebra roam the land in harmony with the Samburu and Masai peoples. They have learnt the value of conservation for tourism through the wonderful work that the Loisaba project into alternative land use has done in converting the failing cattle ranch into this successful joint partnership ranch. Loisaba House is the home of the family who orchestrated this remarkable transformation and when they are away, it available to the privileged few.

Guests have the exclusive use of the house, which comprises two huge bedroom suites, a baronial dining room, bar and excrutiatingly comfortable sitting room - perfect in which to relax but for one of the best views on the continent, tempting one into the 60,000 acres of untouched bush.

The House staff look after one’s every need. Guests have exclusive use of game viewing vehicles, access to an helicopter and the Loisaba airstrip is on hand should one wish for an aerial overview of the surrounding country. House guests have all the facilities of the ranch at their disposal - there is a tennis court, gourmet restaurant and spa at the nearby Lodge - and this can bring an interesting change of scene or alternatively one may prefer to remain in the lap of one’s own exclusive luxury, away from the rest of the world.

The truth is that almost whatever one wishes can be arranged here without any fuss; bush picnics, game drives and walks or a visit to the village and a tour of the working ranch. Sundown here is a truly magical time, in the company of one’s own small party overlooking so much unspoilt African beauty.
