Tangala is an extremely comfortable African bush home, located on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia, fifteen kilometres upstream from the magnificent Victoria Falls. This family home is situated on a majestic river bend, a little way from the famous Tongabezi Lodge which was the creation of its owner. Facing West, Tangala’s verandah is the perfect place to enjoy the incredible sunsets reflected in the Zambezi and the opposite bank is the National Park, where large numbers of elephant, buffalo, waterbuck and impala can be watched, coming down to the river to drink.

Stylishly built and furnished - featured in a recent edition of House and Garden Magazine - Tangala sleeps eight very comfortably and is a magical location for a family holiday or for a group of freinds looking for an exclusive retreat. Fully staffed and with the use of all of the facilities of Tongabezi Lodge, guests enjoy the services of chef, waiter and housekeeper as well as host and private guide. Vehicles and boats are at one’s disposal and and one treats the house as one’s own. Anything can be arranged with the minimum of fuss from fishing trips and island picnics to game drives, shopping trips and white water rafting.

The house has been designed for comfortable living in the bush - glass windows all round keep the insects out - and life on the thatched verandah soon awakens one’s colonial pioneering instincts whilst the ‘snuggery’ with its open fireplace and the twelve-metre swimming pool, overlooking the Zambezi, cause even the most cautious to feel completely at home here, in the heart of the bush.

Large herds of elephant often come down to drink on the opposite bank and the gurgling hippo are never far away. There is fantastic birdlife all up and down the river bank, with over 145 species to date spotted from the kitchen window! From Tangala one can explore upriver by Banana Boat - something everyone should be able to claim at one stage or another - to complete this unique and personal African adventure.
