The owner, Marcello Murzilli, upon selling his company, began a two-year sailing expedition around the world and, after numerous scouting trips, found his forty-mile stretch of pristine coast.

Constructed in the style of an old Mexico fishing village, the accommodation is provided in ‘Palafitos’, bungalows of indigenous construction, built on stilts over the river’s edge. Palafitos have bathrooms with outdoor bamboo showers and wooden floors. Palapa roofs rise over the color-splashed interiors - hand-painted murals and whimsical antique curios - unmistakably and memorably Mexico.

It is easy to disconnect here - in fact it’s essential - with no phones, neighbouring restaurants, nightclubs, or shopping; only a delicious tranquility for those in search of seclusion. To this end the ‘El Mundo de la Salud’, a primitively luxurious spa, offers the full range of massage and spa treatments designed to relax, invigorate and heal.
