Nestling on the shady banks of the Olare Orok River, the Offbeat camp is small, owner-operated and offers a highly personal and exclusive safari in the heart of the Mara.

The Offbeat Mara Camp is a twelve bed luxurious semi-permanent camp pitched on the Olare Orok water system, on the Koyiaki Group Ranch, just north of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This unspoilt region of Masai land is full of wildlife but free of crowds because it is so far from any other lodge and the guides know how to preserve the exclusivity of guests’ experience by following paths less troddden.
Offbeat works with the local Masai community, employing many on the camp staff and the Group Ranch arrangement is one which benefits the whole community whilst preserving cultures and natural habitats. The Mara offers amazing game viewing throughout the year and the camp is very well situated to witness the annual wildebeest migration in July - September.

The camp comprises six large tents, three twins and three doubles, all with bucket shower and flush loo bathrooms - the ideal compromise for a tented bush camp. Huge cedar beds, solar lighting and the finest linen provide luxurious comfort whilst not detracting from the incredible natural spectacle all around.
There is a large day tent with a bar, library, comfy sofas and writing table and the mess tent seats up to sixteen and is the scene for many delicious and well-earned dinners.

Days are spent on safari in vehicles or on foot - an unforgettable experience - and punctuated with bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and sundowners. Night drives discover the nocturnal world of the Mara and an extremely welcome dinner always awaits in the mess.
The camp is open between mid-December and the end of March, when the long rains arrive and then re-opens in June until the end of October when the plains are filled with migrating wildebeest. Offbeat is a wonderfull authentic safari at any time and an African experience no to be missed.
