Surrounded by vineyards and nestling in its own secluded valley amongst the rolling Chianti Hills, Nudiflorus Rignana is the ideal base from which to explore and enjoy the treasures of this culturally abundant region.

Situated amid a vineyard, the house has a truly rural feel. Dating from the eleventh century, Nudiflorus Rignana was once the pontifical residence of the powerful Cardinal de Ricci and thereafter a monastery. Now it is a wonderful private residence of eight hundred square metres, painstakingly restored and sumptuously furnished by its present owner who has been careful to retain and enhance the original antique features.

Within thirty minutes’ by car, one can explore Florence, Siena and San Gimignano and even closer are the picturesque villages of Panzano and Greve in Chianti. Alternatively, leave the car behind and take a beautiful ten minute stroll to the famous ‘Cantinetta Di Rignana’ restaurant, renowned for the best Tuscan cuisine and memorable local atmosphere.

For those feeling more energetic, there is a superb ‘infinity’ swimming pool with a large deck and Moroccan tent ideal for evening drinks and dining. There is a barbecue area alongside the pool, a croquet lawn and a trampoline, all in the grounds of the estate. However, if exercise is far from one’s thoughts, then perhaps a retreat to the Music Room or the Dungeon Bar is a more enticing prospect.

Outside, the entrance is dominated by a thirty-foot long glass table under a canvas canopy,  stylishly arranged for al fresco dining. The ground floor of the guest house accommodates up to fourteen people and larger groups can also make use of three double rooms in the owner’s quarters. Each bedroom is unique in its decor, some with sumptuous four poster beds and others retaining the original frescoes. Nudiflorus Rignana is very special indeed and a unique addition to the Global Artichoke collection.
